How do I trade in?



Our trade in promise - no one gives you more for your old phone

  • To trade in your old phone it must be undamaged and fully functional. For more information on what condition it should be in, click here.

  • Our trade in claim is checked against the trade in prices offered for fully functional and undamaged phones by Envirofone, Mazuma Mobile, Mobile Phone Exchange and O2 Recycle on a weekly basis.
  • Based on what we find, we'll always make sure we offer you more money for your old phone. For more information on what happens to your item, click here.
  • If you find a better trade in price anywhere, we'll match it - as long as you have proof of the price.
  • Just call us on 08454 139 000 before trading in in store, or placing your trade in order online or by phone.

Here's our step-by-step guide to the trade in process.

  • Place your trade in order online.
  • We send you a pre-addressed, 1st class postage-paid trade in envelope the same/next working day.
  • Post your trade in item to us in the postage-paid envelope.
  • Upon receipt of your item we'll send you a cheque the same/ next working day.

How do I place a trade in order?

  • Go to our trade in page. If you don't want to trade in online, pop into any Carphone Warehouse store. This way you get your money straight away.
  • Type in your item's IMEI code or serial number, for instructions on how to find this, click here
  • We'll tell you how much your product is worth, to see how long this value is valid for, click here.
  • Once you've told us you'd like to trade in, we'll send you a pre-addressed, first class postage paid, padded envelope
  • If you're trading your phone in, make sure you delete all your personal data
  • Put your item and the trade in documents in the envelope and send them to us.
  • We recommend you send this back to us by 'Recorded Signed For' delivery through your local Post Office, to ensure your item is covered for loss or damage, up to the value of £46. This will cost 77p per envelope, but we will add this value to your trade in cheque. If your item is valued above £46, you may wish to consider using Royal Mail's Special Delivery service. This will be at your cost.
  • We'll send you a text or email to tell you we've received your phone
